NEW YEARS UPDATE!

January 14, 20255 min read

The past few months have been a whirlwind of change, growth, and exciting new opportunities. It's been a period of transformation that has tested my limits in more ways that one; but also fueled my creativity in ways I couldn’t have imagined. From moving spaces to launching fresh projects, there’s so much to share. So let’s start with the chaos and the beauty of what’s been happening.

Moving on… and Moving Forward

The biggest shitshow was undoubtedly the moves...MOVES... plural. Not just one move, but multiple! It started with relocating to a different shop—an endeavor that’s as exciting as it is exhausting. I had so much love and support from my fellow artist. They were truly what got me through everything that had been going on. Although the move was unexpected it was necessary; and they were very supportive of it and quite encouraging thankfully. However, the move was not as welcomed for some as I would have hoped and now I've just been dealing with all the BS that comes along with that. Some people just really need to grow the fuck up and realize that if you treat someone like shit for months, they're eventually going to get tired of it and find a place that will appreciate them. It's so important to me to find a place where I feel like I'm being valued, respected and appreciated. I just don't want to be on the receiving end of anymore of that nonsense. Creating a space that feels right takes time, energy, and an endless supply of tea; which I have in my station now. I'm so incredibly happen where I'm currently located and I've quite literally felt a huge shift in every aspect of my life. I've lost almost 25 pounds now that my cortisol levels aren't through the roof. I feel like I absolutely enjoy my work again and have seen so much progress in my abilities. I'm super happy!

Then came the mid-winter move out of my rental. Moving in the cold is no joke! There were moments when it felt like the boxes would never end, and the icy winds and crazy mist made everything ten times harder. But despite the challenges, there’s something undeniably invigorating about starting fresh. Setting up a new home in the middle of the holiday season was a logistical puzzle, but it was worth every late night and early morning. Speaking of the holidays…

Christmas, Last-Minute Edition

With everything else going on, Christmas preparations were a mad dash this year. I’m usually someone who loves to immerse myself in the festive spirit, but this time, it was a race against the clock. Somehow, between unpacking and organizing, we managed to pull it together just in time and I am quite impressed with my family and I. There’s a unique joy in making it work under pressure, and looking back, it feels like a small triumph. A triumph I really needed.

Exciting Collaborations with Fireside Tattoo Network

One of the most thrilling developments has been my work with Fireside Tattoo Network. This collaboration has opened up incredible opportunities to connect with like-minded creatives, help with future events and showcase my work on a broader platform. It’s inspiring to be part of a network that champions artistry and innovation, and I’m excited to see where this partnership will lead in the months ahead.

Convention Prep and Planning

Tattoo conventions are always a highlight of my year, and the preparation process is already in full swing. From coordinating schedules to designing materials, there’s a lot that goes into making these events successful. It’s a mix of hard work and anticipation—not bringing too much shit, not bringing too little of shit...seeing familiar faces, meeting new clients, and immersing myself in the vibrant energy of the tattoo community. A New Art Room and Office

Amid all the moving and planning, one of the most exciting personal updates is setting up a new art room, book nook and office. This space is a dream come true—a sanctuary where I can let my creativity flow without distractions. It’s still a work in progress, but seeing it come together piece by piece is incredibly rewarding. Having a dedicated area for sketching, designing, and planning has already boosted my productivity and inspiration.

Kenzie and I started a fricken podcast!

Yeah, that's right! We started the "Chaotic Ink Podcast"! Kenzie was super hard at work while I was packing and moving. She got the design put together, we mapped out episode topics and just enveloped ourselves in the process of becoming PODCASTERS!! It has been so much fun working along Kenzie and bringing this project to life. We already have our first episode up and running. That was a labor of love for sure. I had no idea files could be so fucking difficult to work with. I had to get really creative in order to find a way to make this episode happen but I'm super happy with how it's turning out. We're looking forward to hearing more from viewers! We were absolutely stoked to see comments and such already coming through! How exciting!

Fresh Tattoo Designs and Creative Ventures

Last but certainly not least, I’ve been hard at work creating new tattoo designs. These pieces represent a fusion of my artistic growth and the inspiration I’ve drawn from recent experiences. From bold, intricate patterns to delicate, colorful designs there’s something for almost everyone. I’m looking forward to sharing these with clients and seeing them come to life on skin.

Reflecting on these past few months, I’m filled with gratitude for the challenges and opportunities that have come my way. Every box packed, every late-night brainstorming session, every new connection—it all contributes to this incredible journey. Here’s to embracing the chaos, chasing dreams, and creating something beautiful out of it all.

Thank you for being part of this adventure with me. Whether you’re a client, a fellow artist, or simply someone following along, your support means the world. Exciting things are on the horizon, and I can’t wait to share them with you!

My name is SJ and I was born and raised in Phoenix, Arizona. I just recently moved to Fargo, North Dakota to join an amazing crew at 46 and 2 Tattoo! I am thrilled to be here and share my painterly tattoo style with the midwest. I love tattooing color realism while focusing on mainly animals and floral subjects. I jokingly call myself an “owl-tist” because Owls are my favorite to tattoo so you’ll see a lot of those on my page! Looking forward to working with some amazing clients while providing quality tattoos and art!
